Art Nouveau house at the intersection of Negustori and Paleologu streets
Starting with the 20th century, neo-Romanian villas and modernist blockhouses will be built in the neighborhood, which have joined the existing buildings in a harmonious way. In addition to buildings, the streets and courtyards, but also the people who crossed and crossed them give identity to the area, and the names of the streets recall personalities such as Dumitru Stăniloae (priest, theologian and remarkable teacher, who served at the Merchants Church life), or the Paleologu family, who, accepting that the new tram line would cross the land they owned, asked instead to rename the street. These stories that give charm to the area can be lost with the people who know them and the image of the neighborhood can easily become different by radically changing the volume and original appearance of buildings, changing the color of facades, destroying vegetation or foreign and disturbing uses for neighbors.
